Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) last week revealed a national level development programme for the game`s Under-15 and 17 levels.
As an initial step, a national coach will be appointed soon for national Under-15 and 17 pools. The coaches will be given a lucrative salary worth over Rs.50 000.
And, under the present infrastructure development programme of SLC, the University of Moratuwa ground is to be refurbished shortly. The material needed for relaying of cricket pitches will be distributed among cricket venues like Colombo University grounds, CCC, NCC, Galle International Stadium and R. Premadasa International Stadium.
Some of the pitches will be replaced by faster tracks with a view to improving fast bowling and batting on fast tracks and such pitches will be made under the supervision of the SLC.
There will be a special seminar for team coaches, managers and umpires of the Premier level clubs. The number of teams taking part in the Premier Tournament this year will be pruned down to ten, the SLC sources further added.
The ongoing Premier season has not reported any serious incident, on the part of bad conduct from players, and the reason is commonly cited as the new match referee system introduced from this season.
