The proprietor of a reputed Hardware Store in Katugastota was a fortunate man when part of his sales collection amounting to Rs. 1.4 million was retrieved from a garbage dump where it was accidentally consigned along with the common garbage in the area last week.
It transpired that the money bundles had accidentally been dumped with the rest of the rubbish of the Hardware Store that was as usual placed for removal outside the Stores for Municipal workers to collect the next day.
In the morning the CMC workers collected the garbage as usual and dumped it by a way side collection point.
At the point when the garbage was to be taken away by the Municipal van, three employees from the Hardware Stores had rushed to the spot. After searching the mountain of garbage they found the Rs.1.4 million intact.
The owner who hit on the possibility had rushed his workers to the garbage dump.
