The TNA yesterday urged the government to take immediate steps to stop terrorizing the Tamil people in the East.
Referring to the recent incidents in Trincomalee, the TNA in a statement warned that the violence allegedly unleashed by the government would have serious repercussions at the upcoming Geneva talks.
It also called upon the international community to strongly condemn such acts of state terror against the Tamil speaking people.
The TNA also said the government had done little to disarm paramilitary groups in the north and east despite the pledge given at the recent round of talks in Geneva.
?Many Tamil civilians in the Northeast including the Trincomalee Tamil People`s Forum Chief V. Vigneswaran were ruthlessly killed by these paramilitary groups,? it said.
It alleged that the Navy had brought truck loads of people to the heart of the Trincomalee Town last week to carry out attacks against the Tamils there.
TNA Jaffna District TNA Parliamentarian .N. Raviraj also came under attack at Aheyapura in Trincomalee early last week.
