The Republic of Korea has made a voluntary contribution of US$ 100,000 to the Programme for Private Sector Development (PPSD) of the Colombo Plan.
The grant provided would be utilised to implement human resource development programmes on:
* Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
* Improvement of SME Business Management and SME capacity
* Analyse, formulate, negotiate and implement trade policy in developing countries and countries in transition and
* E-Commerce applications for trade and SMEs
At a ceremony held at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea on 28 March 2006, Lim Jae-hong, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka handed over the cheque to Kittipan Kanjanapipatkul, Secretary-General of the Colombo Plan Secretariat, who expressed thanks to the Government of the Republic of Korea for new financial contribution towards PPSD programmes.
