Job racket: Victims say they paid money after meeting Jeevan

    Jay_R,

Yes, I agree with your comment, since the PR system was involved in district level, any Tom, Dick and Harry can come from the back door to the parliament. There are other examples of this type crooks coming to the parliament notably the UNP crook Ravi Karunanayake from Kotte constituency lost Kotte but came from other areas thus became a Colombo district MP, which shows how bad the system works when you want to rid an idiot from your area. So the lost man can take vangeance at his own will when he comes back from the district.

Prior 1977 with the Westminster system, it was winner takes all thus any crook who has not done any constructive work for his area can easily be removed by another fellow. This is one stupid way of keeping the crooks at bay irrespective of their pedigree. The only benefactors are the small parties like JHU who can get into the parliament too as 1 or 2 representatives.

Uneduacted useless silver screen heroes who only know how to circle round trees like Jeewan are just the ultimate nightmare of the voters.

While people who have done petty crimes go to prison, the culprits with authority and political power are never punished, forced to resign let alone going to jail even if they are caught red handed.

These are forgotton few months down the line they may even get promotions. These culprits who get elected portraying as working for the poor people do only one thing- serving themselves and their cronies. They plunder where ever they are -the ministries, coorporations etc.

Unless and until these are openly investigated and if guilty punished and thrown out of the govt. the country will remain down in the dumps. What is needed is a strong and decisive leadership.

Nada, If Jeewan is found guilty there is a law and regulations to punish him. Whether he is educated or not he is an elected person. How about the education qualifications of your So called leaders, Political and Rebellions? Are they?

If the evidence is right at the door step, the court case should be short and these ppl should be punished asap instead of dragging things and hiding around for another few yrs, by that time things will be half forgotten!

Why this thief Jeevan still holding a portfolio? Does he understand the meaning of the word `integrity`? When is Mahinda going to force him to resign from his portfolio? What a shame? This is the guy who is leading our sports ministry. Cricket is the only game that we have done great things. Look what he has done to our cricket. It is time to strip this S.O.B. from all the positions he is holding and put him in the jail.

Now, UNP have asked for an investigation on this scandal from the Govt., in the Parliament. We will have to wait see what happens. What ever happens the innocent youth must get their monies back. Some have taken loans to pay for their trip, to Alaska..
