Participants in a television singing contest, where winners are not selected but elected, have been campaigning vigorously for votes. They could be seen visiting schools and private tuition classes while their friends and family members are begging for votes over the telephone.
Recently, a VVIP was relaxing after a heavy day. His mobile phone kept on ringing incessantly and he wearily answered it. `Uncle,` a little girl chirped, `do you watch `85.programme?` It was obviously a stray call as only a few knew his mobile number. But, amused, he thought of keeping the talkative little one on the line for a while. `No daughter, but if you want me to watch it, I will. But what`s so special about it?` `Good uncle, you must watch it. It is so nice,` she went on, `I like `85. He sings so well.` `So? What am I supposed to do?` he asked laughing. `Like a good uncle,` she was appealing to him, `could you send an SMS for him?` And she hung up thanking him.
Little did she realise that the vote she had been canvassing for belonged to the Executive President of this country.
