Kattadige Amarasena, a lawyer by profession, was further remanded by the Tangalla District Judge and Magistrate Tamara Tennakoon, for the alleged murder of his wife Sandya Kanthi Ekanayake, a resident of Halmullaketiya in Thungama on November 20, 2005.
The suspect is alleged to have slit his wife`s neck with a `Manna` knife.
The incident had taken place opposite the Tangalla police station in broad daylight on November 20, 2005. The suspect a resident of Katuwana was practising at the Walasmulla Courts.
A two year old child who was with the victim at the time of the incident escaped and was handed over to the custody of the Tangalla Probation Office.
Those present at the Court House for the hearing of the case were amazed as no lawyer appeared on behalf of the suspect.
