LTTE rebel Karuna Amman`s statement, to a radio station in London, that LTTE should hand over their arms in the presence of international observers, is amusing, Daya `Master`, LTTE spokesman in Kilinochchi said yesterday (22).
He said Karuna Amman was not aware of the measures to be taken during a ceasefire and was making a statement that was of no value.
When asked to comment about the story in our sister newspaper `Divaina` on Tuesday reporting Karuna`s statement in Lodon, he said there was no question of handing over arms during a ceasefire period. `Karuna Amman should know that asking to hand over arms is not included in any ceasefire agreement`.
According to the report Karuna had made the statement just before the talks on the ceasefire between the Government commenced yesterday in Switzerland. Daya `Master` said the LTTE wished the talks to be successful.
