Jaffna Technical College to be upgraded

  • 11 Feb 2006 22:28:04 GMT

Upgrading the Jaffna technical college probably another way to discriminate Tamils by the GOSL since lowering the Z score for Jaffna students for university admission is not considered as a plus point for them and Tamils like Gaja Lakshmi perpetually mislead the western world with false propaganda that Tamils are today discriminated in university admissions in Sri Lanka.

It is good government is providing more technical universities to Jaffna. Presently all most all Tamil students come to south to get technical university education. The new technilogical university will help Tamil students to get university degrees in Jaffna.

Govt should think to sent lecturers from south to jaffna so that relation between north and sorth will be improved

If the government wants to defeat the tigers politically, this is the way to go. I doubt whether there are enough students in the north to fill the classes, because most of the students were abducted by tigers.

Parents should force tigers to release their children.

    Newbie:

It is exactly the different case, I think in jaffna.

According to tamils, Eastern tamil boys made the tamil fighting caders. It was very difficult for LTTE to get jaffna boys. That is one reason why LTTE is MAD TO THE HELL with Karuna. I think eastern amils were the most disadvantaged by both the govt and by Jaffna tamils.

    AnuD,

The Tamils from East living abroad tell me that they bribe LTTE to keep their young relatives out of reach of LTTE before and after Karuna left LTTE .

    AnuD:

So then, the government should give the same opportunity to the eastern tamils...

    Newbie:

I think Eastern tamils just like sinhala village folks acepted to live with minimum unlike Jaffna tamils who want more and keep asking more.

I agree, Eastern tamils, including Karuna`s political party, should stop rhetoric instead should concentrate on developing the region.

I agree with MAgha too. I know one lawyer from east. He simply could not handle giving Kappan to every goup. He gave up the practice and immigrated overseas.

Thank you Magha for referring to my work. Do you not agree that the direct merit base stops with 40%? In other words, 40% is discriminated on Objective basis. The rest are a mix of subjective discrimination and objective discrimination.

Discrimination is right when that is the official base. The above is not official and as per International standards, the above is unlawfully discriminatory. It is in breach of Article 5 of the International Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Racial Discrimination.

If Sri Lanka seeks to be an equal/adult participant in International Education, then it needs to find other ways in which to promote rural Sinhalese.

How has the rest of the funds from Korea been distributed? What is the basis for the above distribution?

Yes, I have seen this news before; the purpose of recycling this news is to wind the Sinhala folks up. As soon as they see the title of the news, they start typing, and one or two didn?t even see as to where the fund is coming from; they simply referred it as [our money]. It speaks volume!

When one says, [it?s our money], what am I to make of it? Does it mean it belongs to Sri Lankans, or does it belong to the Sinhalese only, or does it belong to the Sinhala Buddhists only?

If it belongs to the Sri Lankans, don?t the Tamils constitute to be Sri Lankans? Don?t the Tamils pay tax and contribute to the economy?

    I am very confused!!

AnuD referred the Karuna group as a political force; when did this happen?

Do you want the authorities to stop developing the Jaffna Tech and develop something in the East? Is it because, there is no need to for a modern Technical college in Jaffna?

    I am further confused!!

    Ariyalai_SB,

Sri Lanka is not being Administered but is being loosely managed through Politics. Hence you will not be able to see a `pattern`. Each one must draw on the basis of his/her investment and express through their language.
