The US government greatly appreciated President Mahinda Rajapakse`s dedication, patience and determination to hold peace talks with the LTTE, American Ambassador to Sri Lanka Jeffery Lunstead said yesterday.
Speaking to The Island after holding discussions, on the arrangements for the peace talks, with Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, Lunstead said America would always fully support the Sri Lanka government to hold peace talks with the LTTE successfully.
He said Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva was a matured, well-experienced politician and a capable team leader of the Sri Lankan delegation to Geneva.
Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva told The Island that he had official discussion with the American Ambassador at the Health Ministry yesterday on the success and failure of peace talks held by the successive governments and added that the government was able to identify root causes which led to break down of previous peace talks.
He said that the government had already prepared a comprehensive agenda for Geneva and had already paid Special Attention on the causes of delay in holding talks with the LTTE.
