The Janata Vimukti Peramuna yesterday (3)said it will not vote for the forthcoming Budget of the Government if it does not contain proposals that would strengthen the National Economy.
The JVP politburo, which met recently, took this decision. The following proposals for the budget were being forwarded to the Government by the JVP:
Giving relief to the farmers and fishermen, intervention of the government to uplift the living conditions of the plantation workers, increasing the salaries of public and private sector employees were among the proposals the release said.
The other proposals made by the JVP were granting permanent status to casual employees in the public sector and uplifting local industries. JVP would vote for the budget if the above proposals are included.
