Police yesterday claimed the prevailing security situation in Colombo and its suburbs necessitated police searches of public and mercantile establishments.
Defense Ministry Secretary (Police Affairs) H.M.G.B. Kotakadeniya told the ?Daily Mirror? that public places where people gathered, like shopping complexes, hotels and luxury apartment blocks should be subjected to thorough search operations.
Every nook and cranny and in the city should be searched and Colombo`s vulnerability to terrorist attacks eliminated, the ex-DIG said.
Mr. Kotakadeniya said there were intelligence reports of terrorist groups having transferred to Colombo to carry attacks in the city.
