Madduma Balapatabandige Guna-pala a father of three children of Rakawa at Netolpitiya in Tangalla police division was found dead on a pavement at Tangalla town after consuming excess liquor. The body was immediately rushed to Tangalla District hospital by neighbours for further examination.
The inquest into the death was conducted by Buddhadasa Rajapakse, inquirer into Sudden deaths Tangalla, according to orders given by the Coroner, District Medical officer Tangalla W. Susith Rajan conducted the post mortem examination.
The wife of the deceased Jayaweera Baduge Hemalatha testifying at the inquiry said that her husband was a drunkard and that she did not suspect anything regarding his death. Wijeweera Patabandige Premasiri and Madduma Samantha Kumara giving statements said that they have no suspicions regarding this death as the deceased was a drunkard.
According to facts revealed during the inquiry the coroner recorded a verdict of death due to cardio respiratory failure followed by asphyxia due to consumption of excess liquor and food. The coroner was assisted by police officer P. Alahapperuma of Tangalla police.
