Mrs. Bogollagama case settled

The Colombo Magistrate yesterday released the wife of the Industrial Minister Rohitha Bogollagama who was charged with causing injury to Dr. S. Narenthiran, warning that the parties should not be involved in any fights hereafter.
The court discharged the suspect after the two parties had agreed to settle the matter.
Mrs. Deepthi Bogollagama and the Dr. S. Narenthiran appeared in court.
Delivering the order Colombo Additional Magistrate Sujeewa Nissanka said that the case was compounded on the basis of the second statement made by the complainant Dr. Sinnathurai Narenthiran that he had no intention to continue with the case and according to the medical report that the injury received by him was not serious.
The Court made this order following the amendment made by the Attorney General that the suspect Mrs. Bogallagama had committed an offence that could be compounded.
Senior State Counsel Amendra Seneviratne appearing with State Counsel Kesara Samaradivakara informed court that the charge was amended based on the statement made by the complainant to the Borella police on September 20.
Dr. Narenthiran had informed the police that he did not want proceed with the case.
The SSC stated that the charge against Mrs. Bogollagama was amended to causing injury with a sharp item.
The Additional magistrate allowing the settlement informed that the complainant Dr. Narenthiran had agreed to forget and forgive the suspect Mrs. Bogollagama and settle the case.
