?The UNP will provide 200,000 jobs in its first year of the term of Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe as the President, as a top priority of the national agenda. He will also grant permanent status to all graduate-recruits who were misled by the UPFA government,? UNP Parliamentarian, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam told a press conference at the Opposition Leaders Office yesterday.
He also said that they will not disillusion youth, as the UPFA had done to the unemployed youth.
?The UNP had never given promises which they cannot fulfil and had always delivered what was promised?, he added.
?The UNP has solutions to every burning issue of the country and we have promised to create three million job opportunities in 10 years and one million in the first five years,? Mr. Kariyawasam said.
Commenting on Minister Mangala Samaraweera`s criticism of the UNP manifesto, Mr. Kariyawasam said the Dinamina, on its first page, quoting Minister Samaraweera said that even Mr. Wickremesinghe, who pledged to give a 500 gram pack of dhal at Rs.34, was aware that today the same could be purchased for Rs.30 to Rs.33, but in a list of the prices of goods at the Colombo Fort retail market, the same paper had stated the price of a kilo of Dhal was Rs. 80.
It is known to everyone that when it comes to the village, the price is higher still.
This shows how the UPFA misleads the people, as they have always done, Mr. Kariyawasam pointed out.
