Female students who come to Galle, as well as their parents are alarmed and worried about an organized gang who allegedly prick and injure them with vaccinating syringes.
Such incidents happen frequently when these students come to the city alone, it is alleged.
Two female students from two leading schools have been admitted to the Karapitiya General Hospital due to injuries caused by members of this gang.
On September 16, a young man had come in a trishaw and injured a girl in the same manner, while on September 19, a man on a push cycle had done the same to another girl from the Sangamittapura area. One of the girls who had struggled in the process, had been pricked in several places of her body. On both occasions the syringes had got stuck to their bodies and they had been handed over to the hospital for investigation as to whether the syringes contained any harmful substances.
Inquiries are being conduced by the Galle police minor complaints division. No suspects had been taken into custody.
