Ranil- You and your uncle JR put the Country in to the present situation.(extreme open economy!!- which has failed in under developed countries)

You want to bring multinational companies and ruin our economy.

Hey Man! Stop selling our sisters to the middele east just for usd 100.What are your plans to stop this ? no just stopping but introduce better economic policies.

So they dont have to run away from their homes to make a living. At present, in simple terms they are driven away from their homes and their daughters following them.

Mahinda and Ranil - this request is for both of you

Ranil say he is going to eliminate poverty.

Only way he can do that is who ever can not keep up with the changing society become drug addicts and prostitutes.

The reference to Parakrama era was made in the context of the UNP`s commitment to the farmers and the agriculture sector which has been neglected under the Rata Perata Govt.If one looks at the development of the rural/agricultural areas most development had been carried out by the UNP Govt-the Galoya development,Mahaweli development, the interest taken by Dudley Senanayake,M.D.Banda to uplift the agro economy are some of them.Mahinda being a lawyer should be aware that under the paddy lands act the paddy field cannot be put to any other use without the permission of the tribunal constituted under the act.Its true that during the gamudawa some paddy fields were filled. The writer is personally aware that these were paddy fields which were neglected due irrigation difficulties.

We all know the game that Mr Mahinda Rajapaksha is playing. It is the same game that Bandaranayke? played in 1956, 1960 and 1970

Shinhala, Buddhist Mr Mahinda Rajapaksha`s collaboration with the Sinhala extreme nationalist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and Sinhala extremist all monks` party Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU), demonstrates that Mr Mahinda Rajapaksha is following the foot steps of Mr S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike`s formation of the Mahajana Exsath Peramuna (MEP, People`s United Front) coalition in 1956. Mahajana Exsath Peramuna (MEP, People`s United Front) coalition was a political alliance of four radical socialist parties. Also in that period Mr S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike did follow what the Buddhist monks advised on him, in order to win the good hart of the Shinhala people. At the current stage Shinhala, Buddhist Mr Mahinda Rajapaksha`s strategy and even his dress code demonstrates, nothing different to what Mr S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike did in 1956.

Productive Presidents and Prime Ministers were made by experience, not born or curban copies of others. Past Presidents and Prime Ministers like Rt Hon Mr D. S. Senanayake, Rt Hon Dudley Senanayake and Rt Hon Ranasing Premadasa are prime examples. Prosperity and harmony was always in their agenda.

We live in the beginning of the 21st centaury.

At the mammoth rally at Harispaththuwa on Sunday the economic policies that Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksha has spoken about are similar to the unsuccessful economic policies of Mr S. W. R. D Bandaranayke and Mrs Sirimavov Bandaranayke, which degraded the country in a large scale.

As nation are we going go forward or backwards.

    Yamuna:

Long ago, Ranil`s political grandfarthers, D.S. Senanayake, also made the same promise while flying over the Galoya scheme.

However, when they opened the economy, rice was imported, farmers could not sell paddy and they had to leave fields fallow.

So Ranil is talking contradictory talks. By opening the economy how he is going to create Parakramabahu period which was famous for self suficient SL.

This PIN GONA, should try to have a mind and a vision of his own before trying to find holes in other peoples policies.

30 years in politics and he has done NOTHING for his own dist - Hambanthota. Today Hambanthota is one of the poorest dist in the country, without even the Basics of Infrastructure. It has been subjected to droughts every few years. But NOTHING has been done.

NIne months after the Tsunami, most of those victims are still in Refugee camps while the PM tried to plunder 83.5 million meant for those poor victims.

This Man is a JOKE - A SPINELESS, VISION LESS BUFFALO!!!

    AnuD

You have got the facts wrong.DS was not Ranil`s grandfather. The open economy was created in 1977 and that did not prevent the country becoming self sufficient in rice.Further it was with the Mahaweli development and the comparative peace ushered in by Ranils CFA that led to the bountiful harvest in the last 2 years.

Prior to the open economy, during the period 1970-1977

there was a shortage of every commodity including basics like bread and infant milk.A couple who was getting married had to take the proof of marriage to the lottery`s board to get Saree`s and suite materials. You could not transport 2 kilos of rice or chillies. I could go on giving several examples what life was beore the economy was liberated from the controls of government.

It was because the SLFP and the JVP accepted the concept of the open economy as opposed to what prevailed between 1970-1977 that they continued with it during the last 11 years.

My experience was every time UNP govt imported foods, so foods were availalbe but production went down, and it was good for business.

On the other hand, SLFP stopped importing, goods were scarce but farmers earned money.

    [both extremes are bad].

I think the people here cannot understand what I said early. I told all of you that when you talk about my leaders ( they are not your leaders coz you all are foriegners to me) don`t use PONNA to Ranil or PIN GONA to MR. Who are you to talk like that?
