Tamil United Liberation Front Leader V. Anandasangaree is intensively campaigning for the establishment of an Indian type of federal system to be established in Sri Lanka. The TULF leader met with the Jathika Hela Urumaya last week and held discussions with the monks and tried to impress upon them the importance of having an Indian type of federal system in Sri Lanka.
JHU, Member of Parliament Athuraliye Rathana thero said the discussion were very cordial between the veteran TULF leader and the monks, he said`. We told Mr. Sangaree that we are not extremists and we are for a unitary system. We will have more meetings with him and continue our dialogue.`
Anandasangaree had also told the monks why he opposed the proposed joint mechanism and how the ceasefire agreement had helped the LTTE more than the government and how they are moving freely in government held areas without giving the same access to the government and other citizens. He had also emphasised the importance of uniting to corner the LTTE.
Earlier the TULF leader had met with the, Mahanayakes and the JVP. The talks between the TULF and JVP is to continue. He is expected to meet with the UNP, SLFP, SLMC and other parties later this month to convince them on the importance of going for a federal solution. When questioned if the TULF leader will also meet with the TNA, he said `No. I don?t consider them as apolitical party. They are somebody?s agent.
