A group of LTTE cadres forcibly entered the Kalmunai Bus Depot and forcibly removed tyres after threatening the security personnel on duty at the depot on Tuesday.
Military spokesman Brig. Daya Ratnayake said about 20 LTTE men on two vehicles had forcibly removed about 50 tyres from the premises saying that they were to be burnt during a hartal to be staged on the following day.
The Depot Superintendent has complained that the LTTE men had threatened security guards with death before loading the tyres to their vehicles.
Meanwhile, six LTTE cadres, led by an LTTE area leader were caught while they were robbing household items in Achchuveli in Jaffna on Tuesday night when the occupants of the house had gone to the airport .
Military sources said according to information, the owner of the house with his family members had proceeded to the Colombo airport to go overseas. The neighbours had caught LTTE men loading the stolen goods into tractor. Later LTTE political leader in Jaffna Illamparidi, arrived at the scene and threatened the neighbours not to inform the incident either to the Security Forces or the Police.
Due to pressure though the LTTE political leader assured to return all robbed items all such valuables robbed from the area end up at LTTE hands in the end, sources said.
