Vow made at Sri Maha Bodhi to get SB released from jail

What are these idiots doing? This shows the mentality of these politicians as well as the Buddhist priests who have difficulty to adjust to the 21st century. The importance of Sri Maha Bodhi to Buddhists is symbolic as it represents the arrival of Buddhism to Sri Lanka the greatest gift our nation inherited. It should not be subjected to bribery or be challenged to perform miracles. I doubt whether these fools understand a fraction of Buddhists philosophy. When the country is struggling to recover from an incomprehensible natural disaster we should not plan to burn 84 thousand coconut lamps or offer a gold coin to Sri Maha bodi , but make use that money to help Tsunami victims. This is not Buddhism . This is Sinhalese Buddhism.

Use the religion for every bit of your selfish moves. Buddhist in Sri Lanka are bunch of jokers, they allow everybody to use the religion for their political gain. It is high time to ban all policitians to attend for religious places. Otherwise they will destroy the buddism same way they are destroying Sri Lanka.

Buddhist in Sri Lanka has to organize themselves, otherwise our religion is in great danger, not by other religious missioneris, but by bogus buddhist politicians.

    UNF Politiccos,

Pls stop these bullied acts. You always commit such types of bullied led, non realistic acts. STOP these non sense!!!

SB contempt to courts and got jailed. But he wud hav been jailed for the bribes and dirty things he carried out, for some reasons he got not caught for those.

Take this as an example and try to make your path in correct way rather than just doing some ``brainless acts`` to free SB!!!!

You are insulting the Buddhism, men!!

UNP has sunk to such a pity state. Save your energy to plan programmes to uplift the country and to get rid of all corrupt politicians in the UNP. When compared with SLFP & UNP, UNP has the most no. of corrupted politicians. SB is one of them, so let him suffer for the deeds he has done.

The legal egales & heavy weights of the UNF are this much bankrupt for a strategy to get SB released ??

Such actions speaks volumes their emptiness. Where are those law professors, pundits in the UNF ?

They appear to have only one & that is Tilak Marapone. But when he opened his mouth with his opinion the party rebuked him.

    Sorry state of affairs.

The 84,000 pahan pooja request would have been better if it was directed in asking for favour to uncorrupt the corrupt politicians & to enable them to have a vision to serve the masses instead of amassing of personal wealth.

Probably, such a favour may need a pahan pooja numbering in the millions.

It would have been thousand or even millions times better if this 84000 pahan pujawa is held to protect this tiny island MOTHERLAND where millions innocent Sinhalese,Tamils & Muslims live in fear of the murderers LTTE maniacs, butchers for which todays uncertain situation these selfish UNF leaders are responsible!!Kind request to the mahasangha! PL DO NOT BRING LORD BUDDHA`S`S GREAT RELIGION INTO DISREPUTE AS IN HISTORY-WE HAVE NEVER HEARD THE RELIGION BEEN USED TO SAFEGUARD THE INTEREST OF THE CORRUPT POLITICIANS!!!

Using religion to satisfy one`s pride or selfish gain is a practice that has gone on from time immemorial. It is a sad by true fact of life when religion is in ritual and tradition. What I found most challenging to my beliefs was to sincerely find out if buddhism or hinduism or islam had the answer. i then wanted to know if there was a living God. I did not care what any man or woman said. There are claims by many of peace and ways to attain peace. I studied and meditated and found that only Jesus Christ said he was a living God. You can interact with someone who is alive, if they are truly alive. I sought and I found Him to be true. The change is within. I have seen people healed and set free. It is hard to understand what goes on within a person and no one if understand it until they sincerely seek. Jesus says `Seek me and I shall be found`. If I held onto the religion I was born into or I was upset because some of the people who claim to be sincere followers proved not to be I would be seeking God in man. He never told us to do that.

If Buddha was still alive, he would have put SB in prison himself ! Along with a lot of other people, but then, more than half the parliament would be empty.

How on earth they use religion for political needs. These monks are crazy to be supporting a release of a culprit. They should rather chant pirith to wish that all the other corrupted officials are also captured.

I agree with the guys who have posted here with the request not to use religion for political gains. There is no need to go to temples and do a bodhi pooja to get SB out. Temples I thought are for us to go and meditate and worship Buddha.

However, it should be noted that SB is a political prisoner. I am sorry but there was no contempt of court on his part. It was a statement made in a political rally not a statement he made with the intention of bringing the legal system into disrepute. There were several instances Presidents of SL (mostly the current incumbent) made statements which makes the entire civil society cringe with shame and disbelief. SB was put in jail because the person who holds the highest position in the land is on a personal vendetta against him. That is the truth and let us accept that. When SB was in PA, he is the best. When he is out, let us put him in jail! This is the five star democracy in Sri Lanka!!
