The Colombo High Court yesterday (2) lifted the ban imposed on the son of Deputy Minister Mervin Silva, Malaka, on visiting night clubs. He has been given the Court`s permission to visit and freely move about in night clubs from December 15 to January 15.
Malaka Silva, a son of Deputy Minister Mervin Silva, was arrested by the police after an incident at a night spot where he is alleged to have assaulted policemen.
Counsel for Malaka Silva pleaded with the court yesterday to lift the ban on him during the festive season.
High Court Judge Rohinin Perera allowed the application subject to a bond for Rs.50,000 being entered into with the Malaka`s father. Court ruled that the bonded amount will be confiscated by the Court in case of an incident of the breach of the peace by the Deputy Minister`s son.
