He pointed out the significant challenge of rebuilding Sri Lanka after Cyclone Ditwah caused major destruction across the nation. “I pray that the New Year brings luck and prosperity. To restore our damaged country, it is essential for everyone to cooperate fully, take ownership of our nation, and collaborate without conflict or divisions,” stated Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero. Additionally, Most Venerable Dimbulkumbure Sri Saranankara Wimaladhamma Thero, the Anu Nayake of the Malwatte Chapter of the Siam Nikaya, encouraged the people of Sri Lanka to unite and rebuild the country by learning from how other nations recovered from natural disasters. The Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcom Ranjith, also shared a New Year message, stressing the need for unity in rebuilding the country, free from divisions.
