Nine people lost their lives, and many others were hurt when a bus went out of control and fell into a ravine in the Alluri district of Andhra Pradesh, India, this morning. The crash happened close to the village of Tulasipakalu. According to the district collector, the bus was carrying 35 passengers, along with two drivers and a cleaner. “We have confirmed nine deaths. Seven injured individuals have been taken to the CHC Chintur, which is 15 kilometers from the accident site. Rescue operations are currently underway. Once they are stable, we will transfer the injured to Bhadrachalam,” stated the collector. The bus reportedly veered off the road while going around a sharp bend in the hilly area, causing it to tumble down a steep slope. A senior police officer informed news agency PTI that heavy fog likely prevented the bus driver from seeing the curve where the accident occurred. The passengers were traveling from Chittoor to visit the Sri Rama temple in Bhadrachalam, Telangana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sadness over the tragedy and announced that families of the deceased would receive Rs 2 lakh from the PMNRF. Additionally, Rs 50,000 will be given to those who were injured. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu voiced his shock about the crash and contacted officials about the support for the injured. He also directed senior officials to head to the accident site promptly to assist with rescue efforts and instructed all departments to work together to provide the best medical care for the victims.
