Airbus has spotlighted Meriesha Fonseka, a talented Sri Lankan engineer, as part of their single-aisle wing design team at the company’s Wichita Engineering Facility in the United States.
According to a post on Airbus’ official Facebook page, around 15% of the engineering staff at the Wichita facility are women a group of professionals who contribute diverse experiences and perspectives to Team Airbus. Among them is Meriesha Fonseka, who has made history in her family as the first college graduate.
Meriesha began her journey with Airbus as an intern while pursuing her Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Wichita State University. In 2023, she officially joined Airbus after completing her studies.
Her appointment not only marks a personal milestone but also highlights the growing representation of Sri Lankan professionals in the global aerospace industry.
