Notorious underworld figure Nadun Chinthaka Wickremeratne, alias Harak Kata, has alleged that he is being detained in Tangalle as a result of his refusal to pay a Rs. 300 million bribe allegedly demanded by former Public Security Minister Tiran Alles and suspended Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon.
The claims were made today as Harak Kata was being escorted by police from the Colombo Court Complex following a court hearing.
Speaking briefly to reporters, he stated, “There are so many things to say. I will reveal them then,†before being taken back into custody.
Harak Kata also claimed that his continued detention in Tangalle costs Rs. 10 million per month. Authorities have yet to respond to the allegations.
