The National People’s Power (NPP) is leading decisively in the Local Government elections with 43.44% of the votes and with 3,412,883 votes counted so far.Â
The party has secured 2,995 local council seats, placing it far ahead of its rivals.
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) trails with 21.02% of the votes (1,651,481 votes) and 1,307 members elected.Â
The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has received 9.61% (755,225 votes) and has won 586 seats.
The United National Party (UNP) has gained 4.47% (351,250 votes), resulting in 279 local council seats, while the People’s Alliance (PA) holds 3.75% of the votes (294,279 votes) with 233 members elected.
