A warm weather advisory has been issued, warning that the heat index in several parts of the country could rise to the ‘Caution’ level in the next 24 hours.
The affected areas include the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Colombo, and Gampaha districts.
The heat index, which measures how hot it feels by considering temperature and humidity, is expected to increase. Authorities advise people in these regions to take precautions, such as staying hydrated, avoiding direct sunlight for long periods, and wearing light clothing.
This advisory is based on data from the Department of Meteorology, which uses global weather models to predict heat conditions. Residents are urged to stay informed and take necessary steps to stay safe in the hot weather.
