An Extraordinary Gazette Notification has been issued to implement a maximum retail price mechanism for medicines.
The notification was issued by the Minister of Health, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.
Under the new regulation, the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) is authorized to revise the maximum retail price twice a year. The NMRA holds the legal authority to adjust these prices at any time in the public’s interest, particularly if fluctuations in the value of the dollar impact costs.
