A 38-year-old woman was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while attempting to smuggle in 1.2 kgs of kush into the country, Sri Lanka Customs’ media spokesman said. Â
He said the arrest was made by officers from the Narcotics Control Unit of the Sri Lanka Customs.Â
The woman had arrived from Bangkok, Thailand, on Cathay Pacific flight CX 611 around midnight. Â
The narcotics were concealed in food packets inside her checked luggage. Customs estimated the value of the seized kush at approximately Rs. 12 million. Â
The woman and the narcotics were handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
