The Sri Lanka Association of Animal Production announced today that sufficient stocks of eggs have been released to the market to prevent any shortages. Â
Addressing the media, the association’s president, Ajith Gunasekera said that the current retail price of an egg ranges between Rs. 35 and Rs. 36. Â
However, the price of eggs will be determined by the supply and demand during the upcoming festive season. Â
The association expressed its aim to maintain the price of an egg at Rs. 45 during this period. Â
Gunasekera also said that the cost of egg production has risen due to increased prices of rice bran and maize. Â
Additionally, he assured that there is a surplus in chicken production and steps have already been taken to ensure an uninterrupted supply of chicken to the market.
