The validity period of temporary vehicle number plates issued by the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) will end on December 15, DMT Commissioner General Nishantha Anuruddha Weerasinghe announced.
He said that the temporary vehicle number plates were issued due to challenges faced by the department in issuing permanent number plates.
Therefore, the Commissioner General requests the public to obtain their original number plates before the deadline.
Driving vehicles with temporary number plates after December 15 will be considered illegal. The traffic police have been instructed to take necessary legal action against violators.
