A hairdresser who had lured a 16-year-old schoolgirl to go with him to a guest house and had raped her was arrested by the Women and Children’s Bureau of the Kandy police.
The 45-year-old suspect is a resident of Thalawinna in Kandy running a hairdresser’s salon in the area. He was to be produced before the Kandy magistrate today.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had spread defamatory rumours against the school girl and when she had questioned him about it he had told her to come with him to talk about it leisurely and taken her to a guest house.
