The two underworld gangsters Buddhika Prasad alias ‘Army Suranga’ and Chamara Chaturanga, were arrested last night in Walpola in the Mulleriyawa police area, the police said.
A firearm made in a foreign country was also seized from the possession of the suspects.
Army Suranga was a member of the underworld gang and was previously arrested for many crime-related incidents. He has been arrested with a firearm at the Perapeliagoda Crime Division.
In the year 2020, the Mirihana Crime Division arrested Ami Suranga for using a fake police ID card.
He was a suspect in an of a shooting incident at the Umagaliya Stadium in Wellampitiya in 2014 where former President Maithripala Sirisena was present.
Mulleriyawa police are conducting investigations.
