At least six persons including a 5-year-old child drowned during three separate incidents yesterday in Polpitiya, Nawalapitiya and Hatton.
Police said woman (62) and a 5-year old child who were returning home from pre-school drowned and went missing in Hitinegama, Polpitiya yesterday.
The bodies of woman and the child – a grandmother and a granddaughter – were found during a search by police and local residents.
Meanwhile, two men and a woman who went to cross the Katambulawa Oya in Akkaravatta area of ​​Nawalapitiya were suspected to have drowned and gone missing since then.
The missing were aged 36, 46 and 47 are residents of Katabula area.
Meanwhile, the Hatton Police have launched investigation after a man accompanied by another three men, slipped and fell into the Panmoore Lake.
The missing person is a 24-year-old resident of Hatton.
