LNP – Easing restrictions is a gamble that might backfire: Health authorities

With relaxing of internal border controls and other restrictions, health authorities have urged people to act with a sense of responsibility.

Director General of Health Services Dr Asela Gunawardena requested people not to misuse the freedom.

“The inter-provincial travel restrictions were lifted in order to carry out essential services and to maintain economic affairs with ease,” he said.

“This is not the time to go on picnics, pilgrimages and enjoy. It is highly recommended that people go outside only for essential purposes,” the Health DG emphasised.

However, he said people are encouraged to stay indoors as much as possible.

Thus, Dr Gunawardena highlighted the importance of strictly adhering to the health guidelines and practices; otherwise the damage that could pop up in the aftermath of lifting safety measures might be irreversible.
