No fees will be charged from passengers sent to quarantine centres in Punani and Kandakadu, Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Shavendra Silva said. Â
He said on a directive of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the Tri-services would be facilitating the quarantine process in the East in collaboration with officials of the Health Ministry and the Defence Ministry and would not levy any fees from the passengers. Â
The Army Commander said arrangements had been finalised to quarantine foreigners and Sri Lankans arriving from Italy, South Korea and Iran from yesterday. Earlier reports said a fee of Rs.7,500 would be charged from each passenger being quarantined.Â
