Prez inks paperwork for Gnanasara Thera’s release

President Maithripala Sirisena has signed the necessary documents to release Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera, confirmed sources from the Presidential Secretariat said.
When contacted BBS Chief Executive Officer Dilantha Withanage, he said the Presidential Secretariat had informed them about signing the relevant documents to release the prelate.
“The specific documents have been signed last evening. However, the Presidential Secretariat did not mention the date of the release,” he said, while expressing gratitude to the President for paying a visit to the prison and taking the decision to release the prelate.
Meanwhile, BBS National Organiser Ven. Vitharandeniya Nanda Thera said Ven. Gnanasara Thera would be released today at 3.00 p.m.
