There was no final decision on the vote of ‘Budget 2019’ during the UPFA group meeting presided by President Maithripala Sirisena and Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Parliamentary complex yesterday, UPFA MP Dayasiri Jayasekara said.
Speaking to the media following the meeting, he said the SLFP group headed by President Sirisena would meet separately today to take a decision. He said they would meet the SLPP after that meeting.
UPFA MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage said that the SLPP stance is that they should vote against the Budget. He said that the President during the Opposition Group meeting stressed the need to build a broad coalition by the SLFP and the SLPP in preparation of the upcoming Presidential Elections soon after the May Day rally. He said Opposition Leader Rajapaksa also held the same opinion.
