Twenty-six police officers, including two Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and ASP N.V. Lorenz of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), have been transferred, police said.
They said the National Police Commission (NPC) approved the transfers made due to service requirements. Accordingly, two SSPs, five Superintendent of Police (SP)s, 14 ASPs, three Chief Inspectors (CI) and two Inspectors (IP) were transferred.
Gampaha Division SSP D.M.M. Pussella was transferred to Mount Lavinia Division while Mount Lavinia Division SSP D.I.D.R. Wijesinghe was transferred to the Gampaha Division.
The transferred SPs were; C.W. Rajapaksa of the Bandarawela Division to Nuwara Eliya Division, D.M.J.B. Dasanayake from Nuwara Eliya to Kandy Division, G.A.S. Piyaratna to Kalutara Police Academy from Kundasale Police Academy, W. Thilakaratne from Trincomalee Division to Deputy Director of Ministries Coordination Division and K.J.P. Perera was transferred to Highway Division from the Medical Service Division.
Fourteen ASPs including N.V. Lorenz, who was temporarily assigned to Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in 2017 by the IGP for investigations by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into CBSL bond issue, have been transferred. ASP Lorenz was transferred to the Colombo Crimes Division while ASP M.A.S.L. Perera was transferred to the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) from the Organized Crimes Division.
The other transferred ASPs were; A.J. Gunasekera from Crime Division to Elpitiya Division, N.J. Edirisinghe from Mannar Division to IT Division, T.M.J.G. Thennakoon to Kandy from Kegalle Division, R.M.K.N. Ranaweera from Kandy to Hatton Division, R.A.A.N. Rajapaksa from Badulla to Gampaha Division, M.H.P. De Silva from Kurunegala to Research and Development Division ,B.M.M. Dasanayake from Hatton to Bandarawela, C.V. Sirimanne from Matara to MSD, M.H.K.S. De Silva from MSD to Police College, D.W.C. Dharmaratne from Mount Lavinia to Kegalle, P.J.A. Wijesundara from Trincomalee to Galle Division and S.A.G. Hallawa from Police Headquarters to Chillaw Division.
Meanwhile, Chief Inspector M.A.C.N. Francis of the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) was appointed as the acting OIC of the FCID while CI R.M.P.S.D.B. Ratnayake was appointed as the acting OIC of the Police IT Division.
CI H.K.S. Shantha Kumara of the Panadura Division as appointed as the acting OIC Wadduwa, IP L. Weerasinghe, the OIC in Wadduwa was transferred to the Gampaha and IP M.P. Sanjeewa of the Parliament Division was appointed as the deputy OIC of the division.
