Rajapaksa meets ACJU

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksha met with officials of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) on 12 November along with Prof. G.L. Peiris, Minister Faiszer Musthapha and Mohamed Muzamil from the Jathikka Nithas Peramuna.

ACJU Secretary As-Shiek M.I.M. Mubark presided over the meeting. Youth leader As-Shiek Arkam Moulavi, Moulavi Thassim and other executive committee members participated in the event.

The gathering, organised by Minister Musthapha, was held at the ACJU office in Maligawatte and dissected the many problems the Muslim community was facing as well as the Aluthgama, Digana and Ampara incidents. Furthermore, ACJU’s Mouavi Thassim said families living in coastal areas in the Ampara District affected by the tsunami were given assistance by the Saudi Arabia government and constructed 500 houses. But they still have not yet distributed these houses to those affected.

Newly-appointed Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa promised to look into the matter and take necessary steps to distribute those houses. Rajapaksa promised the Muslim community a safe and peaceful life in Sri Lanka.
