Minister of Health Dr. Rajitha Senaratne says all hospitals in the country will be computerized by the end of 2019.
Speaking at an event held at the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital, Minister Senaratne said all old medical equipment used at hospitals will be digitalized by next year.
Minister Senaratne said a key policy is to computerise the entire health service adding 50 hospitals have been computerized in 2016.
Minister Senaratne noted he was confident thereafter that this can be done at all hospitals, as those in the health service have the basic knowledge to operate them.
Minister Senaratne stated 50 more hospitals were computerised in 2017, and a further 100 hospitals will be computerized this year.
The health Minister stated by 2019, all hospitals in the island will be computerised.
Minister Senaratne also said another project is due to be kick started to replace all analogue computers with digital ones.
Minister noted it would be convenient for doctors, patients and all other support staff.
Minister Senaratne said he hopes to complete the project of computerising the entire health service by the end of 2019.
