Speaking at a media briefing, General Secretary of the United National Freedom Front, Maithri Gunaratne, pointed out how unsuccessful the current government has been.
He said for the past three years there were shootings in temples and other locations which have claimed the lives of Pradeshiya Sabha members, Provincial Councillors and ordinary people. He states that while banks are being robbed in broad daylight the perpetrators of these crimes are allowed to fly off to Singapore and remain in hiding.
Gunaratne went on to say it has come to a point where people cannot survive as the cost of living has increased.
“We ask this prime minister and the government to step down and hand it over to someone who can do it,†he added
