Sri Lanka interim coach Nic Pothas was all praise for pacer Suranga Lakmal, whose 4/13 in 10 overs went a long way in island nation’s first ODI win 13 matches as they beat India by seven wickets in series opener.
Pothas said Suranga is a world-class bowler who under good conditions that suit him, is always going to make life difficult for the batsmen.
An elated Pothas said that his team is slowly getting closer to the formula of success.
Pothas said “We have had guys in this team who have gone through the processes. We have obviously tried lot of people and we are getting closer and closer to a formula we think will be successful for us in the futureâ€.
Sri Lanka yesterday dismissed India for 112 and then chased down the total with ease and Pothas said his team tried a different strategy against India.
The coach also singled out Angelo Mathews for special mention saying “Angelo looked great again. He is not full capacity yet. Angelo is world class performer and the way he handled that situation with the bat showed how important he is for us.â€
