2018 Budget passed with a two thirds majority

The third reading of the ‘2018 Budget, Blue Green Enterprise Sri Lanka’ was passed in Parliament with a two thirds majority.

The 2018 Budget was passed with a majority 99 votes with 155 voting in favour and 56 voting against.

The third Budget of the good governance government was presented in Parliament by Minister of Finance Mangala Samaraweera on the 9th of November.

The vote on the second reading of the Budget was passed in Parliament with 151 voting in favour and 58 voting against on the 16th of November.

The Bill contains the estimated expenditure of the government for the period beginning from the 1st of January 2018 and ending on the 31st of December 2018.

According to the bill, the government’s estimated expenditure for the 2018 fiscal year was set at Rs.3,982 billion.
