Sri Lanka among Top 16 in Miss Universe 2017

Sri Lanka’s Christina Peiris today became the first ever Miss Sri Lanka to enter the Top 16 at a Miss Universe pageant in the 21st century after 62 years.

The 2017 Miss Universe Pageant took place last night in Las Vegas.

23 year old Christina Peiris is only the second Sri Lankan to reach such a milestone.

Sri Lanka’s Maureen Neliya Hingert is the only Sri Lankan representative to win an award at a Miss Universe pageant after finishing as the runner-up at the 1955 event.

Christina Peiris was crowned Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2017 on the 15th of October. The title of Miss Universe 2017 was bagged by Miss South Africa.
