One killed, another injured seriously when motorcycle collides with MP’s SUV

One person was killed and another seriously injured when the motorcycle they were travelling on collided head-on with UPFA MP Wimalaweera Dissanayaka’s SUV early yesterday near the Karangawa Janaraja Vidyalaya, Ampara on the Ampara-Kandy road.

The incident had occurred around 1.00 am, police said.

One of the injured had been declared dead on admission, police said.

The deceased was from Tissapura in Uhana. The injured person is currently receiving treatment at the ICU of the Ampara Hospital.

Police said MP Dissanayaka was not injured. The driver of the SUV was taken into custody.
