A former Chairman of the Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha has been arrested on bribery charges, the Bribery Commission’s Director (Investigations) SSP Priyantha Chandrasiri said.
The suspect was arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption while soliciting a bribe at his residence this morning (16).
He had allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 100,000 in order to get the plan for a property passed by the Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha.
The arrested suspect is to be produced at the Angunakolapelessa Magistrate’s Court.
