Ranil responsible says JVP

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) yesterday alleged that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe should accept responsibility for the whole Treasury Bond scam.

General Secretary of the JVP Tilvin Silva stressed that, while it is a must that Minister Ravi Karunanayake should resign from his post in connection with … the Central Bank Treasury……Bond Fraud, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe cannot wash his hands off either.

Silva pointed out the fact that Prime Minister Wickremesinghe appointed his close friend Arjuna Mahendran to the post of Governor of the CB amidst all opposition.
“This paved the way for the Treasury Bond scam to be carried out from 27 February 2015. Those involved in this fraud include Minister Ravi Karunanayke, Arjuna Mahendran and his son-in-law Arjun Aloysius. The entire country is aware about these facts,” he charged.

Silva says that the Prime Minister should be held directly responsible for the relevant fraud and also emphasized that Karunanayake should be removed from his ministerial post and that legal punishment should immediately be meted out in connection with the accusations leveled against him.

He added that since no further evidence was required to prove that Minister Ravi Karunanayake obtained bribes from the son-in-law of the former Governor of the Central Bank, the government led by the President should independently take the required action.
