CT Sports: Five schools players who represented Sri Lanka in netball recently were felicitated by Nestle Lanka at a ceremony held at JAIC Hilton last week.
The five players are: Rashmi Divyanjali (Presbytarian Vidyalaya Dehiwala), Sethmi Dinushi (Kurunegala HFC),Tharushi Dulangi (Visakha Vidyalaya), Ama Veromi (Visakha Vidyalaya) and Natasha Aluwihare (Hillwood College Kandy).
They represented the national team this year, while two of them Rashmi Divyanjali and Tharushi Dulangi also represented Sri Lanka at the Junior Asian Netball Championship that was held recently.
Nestle Lanka who has been with the sport for the last 26 years felicitated these players at the launch of this year’s schools tournament.
This year’s championship will be held from 3 to 5 August at Vincent Dias Stadium Badulla.
Speaking at the felicitation ceremony Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam thanked the Sri Lanka Schools Netball Association (SLSNA) for conducting the schools championship and Nestle Lanka Limited for the long term (26 years) sponsorship of the Schools Netball Championship.
He further said the tournament has been a platform for most of the girls who have gone on to represent the national team. “The main objective of SLSNA is to improve the standard of the game and encourage outstation schools to participate, which we have achieved.â€
