A suspect attempting to flee custody has been injured following a shooting carries out by prison officers at the Attanagalla Magistrate’s Court premises this morning.
The suspect was brought to the court by prison officers to be produced for a case being heard today (27), however he had attempted to escape shortly after arriving at the court.
Prison officers had then proceeded to open fire at the escaping suspect who was later hospitalized for treatment, prisons spokesman Thushara Upuldeniya said.
